Hatsuichi Festival

Hatsuichi Festival

Hatsuichi Festival has its roots in an ancient raw-silk market that once took place on the 4th and 9th of every month. The festival began in the days when the old Maebashi was ruled by Shigetada Sakai. The Hatsuichi Festival is also known as the Daruma-ichi:as Daruma (paper- mache figures representing the image of Bodhi-dharma)are sold at the Festival. During the festival, one can enjoy the sound of Karyu Drums;the Lion Dance;and a parade of traditional Japanese wooden floats.
